At Tribal Hotel, Rattanakiri...

One is writing this from one's wooden chalet at "Tribal Hotel" located adjacent to the evergreen rainforests that straddle the tri-junction where Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam meet each other. Both Vietnam and Laos are about 60 km. away from Ratanakiri, in North-Eastern Cambodia, which is home to several indigenous tribes, who have lived in these forests since centuries. One has just reached here from the town of Kratie (pronounced kra-cheah), where one had a close encounter with the Irrawady dolphins, which are found swimming along the Mekong river which flows through Kratie. The Irrawady river dolphin is an endangered species with less than a few hundreds left in the wild.
