The city of Nagaur near Jodhpur, Rajasthan is positioned at a distance of about 135 km north-east of Jodhpur city.The city of Nagaur dates back to the 4th century and was under the control of the Rathore kings. Today, Nagaur Fort that was built using Rajput structural design has urbanised into a tourist hub with an innovative approach known as Scholar's Retreat. This fort includes four major palaces namely Bhakhat Singh Mahal, Akbari Mahal, Abha Mahal and Hadi Rani Mahal. These palaces contain wonderful frescoes that date back 17th to the 19th centuries. The wall paintings are on diverse themes such as rag-ragini, life of a woman, type of weather and plants.

Nagaur is a sandstone fort that is centrally placed and dates back to the 12th century. Naguar Fort had witnessed several combats in ancient times. The walls of Naguar fort are soaring. It has several palaces and havelis inside. There are several temples and mosques inside Nagaur Fort.
